Conventional Trolling Motors - Compatible with Deep Cycle Marine, AGM & Gel Batteries Use Only
Island Hopper recommends the 46lb or 55lb Island Hopper Trolling Motor for the Hobie Pro Angler Series Kayaks
Understanding Lithium-Ion (LiFePO4) Battery & Their Effect On Conventional Trolling Motors vs Trolling Motors with Intergraded Circuit Board
LiFePO4 batteries were designed to be light weight and pack more energy. LiFePO4 batteries were engineered to store as much voltage from solar panels.
The stored voltage is unregulated and will burnout conventional trolling motors or shorten their lifespan, because the collected volts are too high (+18 volts = 12.8 - 16.0 volts DC), whereas conventional trolling motors operate on regulated 12 volts. Therefore, to regulate the LiFePO4 batteries voltage output, a trolling motor requires an intergraded circuit board to control speed and regulate the voltage, along with a heavy gauged battery cable, lithium-ion plug and an auto reset fuse.
Trolling motors with intergraded circuit board tend to have a longer lifespan and extended fishing time while kayaking. Read More

Transom Mount with Steering Handle Kits
Easy installation transom mount kits that are dependable and will fit new and older kayaks without rudders or foot pedals. Transom Mount trolling motors can be installed with a traditional surface set up and steering handle. Transom motor mount has been engineered to attach to a kayak with four stainless screws, eliminating any cut outs to the hull and any access hatches. No unsightly wires, just two flexible cables: one to the remote control box and one to the battery terminals. The motor and shaft are low in profile and compact in size making it easy for removal and inserting. Telescoping Steering Handle
Our system allows the kayak to steer using the telescoping handle. The steering handle is adjustable to meet the different kayak lengths. No altering of cables or kayak. The transom mounts are made from durable polypropylene composite for marine application, aluminum and stainless steel hardware. Stainless steel fasteners to prevent rust, are provided. |
Fresh & Saltwater Trolling Motors, 32 lbs, 46 lbs, 55 lbs Thrust of Power Available
We offer several models for fresh water and salt water use. All of our motors are waterproof and can be completely submerged with no harm to the trolling motor and connections. *Speeds: 5 Speeds Forward / 3 Speeds Reverse, 3 Bade Propeller
The motors have a selectors switch, 1-5 speeds forward and 3 reverse. The three blade machete propeller is included with 55lbs trolling motors. The two blade machete propeller are included with 46lbs and 32lb trolling motors. The machete propeller allows for more torque to push the kayak forward in choppy waters or windy conditions, in addition, to cut through weeds and debris with minimal fouling. Remote Controller is IP54 and Trolling Motor is IP64: splash proof not submersible. |
Lifting Feature Allows the Lifting of Motor
All transom mounts tend to trail lower than the keel of the kayak making it difficult to navigate in weeded waters, where sea grass, lily pods and debris is floating, as well as, running a ground, beach casting and landing and during portage. To resolve this issue we added a remote lifting feature to lift the motor while, sitting in your kayak and clear obstacles.
