LiFePO4 - Lithium Ion Batteries and Reset Fuses
Heavy Gauge Plug and Reset Fuses are required for use with lithium-ion batteries.
Due to the extended range of a lithium-ion battery in comparison to traditional deep cycle or gel batteries; lithium-ion will cause the traditional plug terminals to overheat at point of plug contact.
Lithium Ion batteries increase time and distance on the water for a much longer period of time. This extended period of running time, creates an enormous amount of heat, which create a meltdown on traditional trolling motor wire harnesses.
To prevent a meltdown or fire, we strongly recommend a #8 heavy gauge lithium ion plug in conjunction with a 60 amp or 80 amp fuse.
This specialized plug must be ordered along with a 60 amp or 80 amp reset fuse, depending on the battery amperage.
Therefore, a 55 to 60 amp hour lithium battery requires a 60 amp reset fuse, and a 100 amp hour lithium ion battery requires a 80 amp reset fuse.
